A few more badgers, and some jewellery!

We had a long powercut yesterday, so I couldn't put the kiln on. So, I took the opportunity to tackle my large stash of semi precious beads and turn them into jewellery! It ended up being a fun and productive day. I've spent today listing them on my Purple Cobwebs website.....not quite so much fun!!!

Decadent Day off!

Well now that the tax return deadline has passed, life at the office resumes a less frantic pace!
I decided to treat myself to a day off.
So, me and my fella had a lazy morning, followed by lunch and a pint at the local pub.
We are really luck with our local pub, as they are always willing to whip up some vegan food for us.

Once we got back, I switched on th kiln and spent the next 3 or 4 hours at the toch. What a lovely day!

I've now to wait for the kiln to anneal everything overnight before I can peak.

But in the meantime, here's what I made at the weekend.....

Well I promised to try and keep this blog a bit more up to date, so here is what I've been up to over the last couple of weeks.....

31st January......

Well, as a chartered accountant in a general practice, 31st January, being the tax return filing deadline in the UK, is the most stressful day of the year! But I survived it, and all my returns went in on time!
So, I did a metabolic high intensity 30 minute class to destress, and then came home and emptied the kiln!
A stress free hour passed as I cleaned out the bead release from my latest lampies. Really happy with my latest creations.
Light permitting, I'll get photos uploaded this weekend. x

I'm Gaynor, a Chartered Accountant by day, and Glass melter by night, well, mainly weekends really!

After being introduced to lampworking back in May 2009, it soon became an addiction, and I now spend as much spare time as I can at the torch, and even dream about glass. I've a long way to go to get where I'd like to be with the art of glass, but I'm enjoying every mile of the way!

Here's an example of the sort of thing I love to make.

I have to thank some of the lovely artists who've given me lessons and helped me improve, in particular Kaz Baildon, Stephanie Gough, Sally Carver, and Claudia Trimbu Pagel. I had one very memorable lesson with Kaz and Steph over in Adelaide, where we were watched over by a pregnant red back spider!

I like to blog, although don't do it nearly often enough. It forms a sort of diary where I can chart my progress and look back and smile!

Sale Now On!

Well, it's been a while since I last posted! I've had a successful December with plenty of Christmas sales, leading to a £200 donation to Viva, and £300 donation to Dr Hadwens Trust!
Thank you to everyone who has supported me.

To celebrate I'm having a half price lampwork sale over on my website.

I've already made a few sales, but there are lots of bargains still to be had.

I've also been busy making beaded bottle stoppers and openers, which sold really well as Christmas presents. I hope to add more to my website over the next few days.These would also make great new home gifts.

Well, the kiln is now ready, so to the torch I go.....

Progress.....

Well, there's been much measuring and sawing, and the double layered base is now complete, with insulation between the boards to keep me snuggly warm in winter.
The sides are now being worked on! It's getting exciting now!

Even I helped out with a bit of woodstaining!!!!!

Meanwhile, I'm still torching in the kitchen, and I think I'm making progress there too!!!
